Part-Time Staff
« on: January 28, 2010, 11:57:07 PM »
So, I'm looking for some part-time staff. I'll update this post later with the specifics (my expectations, pay, etc.), but I need some sleep before then.

Looking For:
  • News Writer(s): 1-3
  • Graphic Artist: 1
  • JGCC Main-Stream Developer(s): 1-4

Before you jump into this saying that you're willing (or not willing) to fill one of these positions, please read the following:

A part-time position does not indicate less effort. By part-time, I am indicating that the staff member has hours equivalent to a part-time employee and receives benefits accordingly.

News Writer(s):
So, in the future, I'll need roughly one to three active part-time news writers.  A news writer's main job is to update the front page (yes, we still have one of those) with information about changes to the website and events that are going on within the Dual Solace community (not just from Jared of myself). A new writer would be expected to publish a well-written article once a week (to be released on the same day each week). More information about article specifics will be explained to interested applicants.

Graphics Artist:
I'm going to need one of these in the future. A graphic artist's main job is to provide hand-made images when requested (at most four per two weeks unless the artist is open to more). These may be associated with projects in the community or the website.

JGCC Main-Stream Developer(s):
Once JGCC is released, I'm going to need one to four active developers who are willing to learn JGML and/or the graphic editors and provide occasional updates to main-stream plugins (ones that are sponsored by Dual Solace). These developers would be expected to be active within the community and provide helpful and respectful comments/criticism to members who are attempting to learn JGML and/or how to use the graphical editors.

Payment:
For now, part-time staff will not be paid in any currency. Instead, perks will be offered such as early access to all software and more web recognition (a little lame, I know). If Dual Solace appears to be picking up in activity, annual payments will be considered as I believe that hard work deserves some form of reward.

Deadline:
Applications will be available starting April 15, which is a Thursday. Applications will close on May 7, which is after three weeks. If there are too few applications, the process will open again later. More detail about how to apply will come available closer to the deadline.

Could you go into more detail on the Graphics artist position?

I'd also like to throw in, that any project's I'm currently working on, I would be happy to give people who are accepted first/early access to them (for instance, first testing on my Battleship game). Not to mention Chronos, I think this would warrant making a sub-forum for them and their work. Possibly access to more on the website, etc.

Edit: Also ~ If we do get a graphic artist, I think the first thing asked should be about improving the website.

Of course.

Right now, like Jared said, I want to find a graphic artist to provide custom icons and logos for projects and the website itself. I would love to have a custom theme for Dual Solace in the future. But, my main goal is to have icons for any major project releases. Keep in mind, these applications are subject to change, that's why the opening date is so late.

Applications are being pushed back to April 17th. I'll post an explanation of how to apply and a lot more details by April 16th.

Applications will be delayed until further notice.
